Jordan Chiles bombarded with racist hate messages from Romanian fans after being forced to return bronze medal

Jazmin Chiles, the older sister of American gymnast Jordan Chiles, publicly defended her sister within the wake of the controversial decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to strip the gymnast of her bronze medal in the person freestyle exercise that she won on the Paris Olympics on Aug. 5. Since the devastating CAS decision, Chiles has not backed down from the problem of racism that rears its ugly head.

On August 9, before the CAS decision was published, Jordan Chiles’ mother, Gina Chiles, revealed that her daughter had been harassed online.

“Racist, disgusting comments will still be around in 2024,” she said. he wrote on X. “I’m sick of people saying she doesn’t exist anymore. My daughter is a highly decorated Olympian with the biggest heart and a level of sportsmanship that is unmatched… and she’s called disgusting things.”

On August 10, Jazmin shared her thoughts on her Instagram Story, writing, “Racism is real, it exists, it is alive and well. Officially, 5 days later, she was stripped of one of her medals.”

Ultimately, her Jordan decided to remove herself from social media for the sake of her mental health after USA Gymnastics revealed that she had been receiving a ton of racist hate mail since receiving her medal. In the wake of the CAS decision, Jazmin began sharing the racist comments she received in response to her sister’s defense.

The now-closed Instagram account @Esuntalyy responded to Jazmin’s racism allegations by sending her a non-public message: “Racism? Imaginary bbygirl!” Another troll account, @donadriano88, responded to Chiles: “Speak to me like a river,” followed by a series of monkey emojis. The most blatantly racist response got here from an account belonging to @Ascor.Craiova, an association of Orthodox Christian students in Romania. The message read: “GET A JOB N—ER!”

Chiles responded to the trolls with a follow-up post on her Instagram.

“And to be clear—” Chiles wrote. “The racism that is BEHIND the comments and vulgar and disgusting comments directed at my sister is the topic I am talking about.” She clarified that she was not calling other gymnasts racist or stating that the choice was rooted in racism, but that racism is “alive and well.” She added that over the “last 5 days” she has been called a “negro, a monkey, and a n—r. And so much more!!!”

She ended her post with a message to haters: “So keep your rude little comments to yourself.”

On Sunday, August 11, she shared more photos of messages on Instagram from among the individuals who called “clowns” on her X account.

One user he responded to her story with the words, “shut up, nigger” and one other one said“suck my dick, monkey.” final image comes from one other, now defunct account, saying: “Poor you, privileged American girl crying a river!! And fuck you and your racism in the ass!!”

Jazmin continues to claim that she is by no means “confused”in regards to the rules and doesn’t downplay the confusion it could have caused for Romanian Ana Bǎrbosu, who received the bronze medal after CAS ruled that coach Jordan Chiles had illegally appealed the person freestyle exercise scoring.

Jazmin made it clear that she is going to proceed to defend her younger sister’s interests.

“I have a grudge against the person who is responsible for the way this ENTIRE situation was handled, as well as the RACIST people who are using this as a way to show their true colors,” she said. published on her X before she finally sends it “special thanks” to all who stand by her sister.
