After launching her historic campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris has turn out to be the goal of vitriolic, racist and sexist attacks from her opponents. If elected, Harris will proceed to shatter the glass ceiling and turn out to be the primary Black and South Asian woman to turn out to be president of the United States.
Since announcing her presidential bid, Reps. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) and Tim Burchett (R-TN) have each referred to Harris as a “DEI hire.” Those public comments have fueled that narrative, prompting one Fox Business guest to consult with a “vulgar TikTok meme that, seemingly without evidence, suggests that Harris somehow exploited sexual relationships with powerful men to advance her career.” NPR reports.
Ange-Marie Hancock is the director of the Kirwan Institute at Ohio State University and curator of the Kamala Harris Project. ‘There’s a really strong belief that they wish to be certain that she’s seen as incompetent.’ Former Trump vice presidential candidate JD Vance he even called Harris a “childless cat lady”[y]”aside from suggesting that she is “unhappy.”
“These kinds of things are really designed to appeal to suburban female voters who have more traditional values about what kind of lives women lead,” she said. Hancock.
Jesse Watters, Fox News host, “said Harris secured Hillary Clinton’s endorsement ‘obviously because she’s a woman.'”
In addition, trump card publicly called Harris “crazy,” “nuts,” and “dumb as a rock.” According to Reuters Agencynonetheless these “[o]Online attacks on Harris intensified even before Biden withdrew from the race after X’s posts were reviewed.
The attacks come despite pleas from GOP leaders to maintain their criticism of Harris focused on policy. After House Republicans There was a closed meeting last week where House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke to reporters, stating that “this election will be about policies, not personalities.”
“It’s nothing personal about Kamala Harris” Johnson She continued, “Her ethnicity and gender have nothing to do with it.”
Former Republican Party Presidential Candidate and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley agrees with this strategy. It’s not helpful,” Haley said, adding, “There are so many things we are able to speak about relating to Kamala Harris that it doesn’t matter what she looks like. It’s what she said, what she fought for, and the shortage of results she had due to it.”
Sarafina Chitika, Mr. Harris spokesmanrevealed that she will not be letting these attacks distract her from the work that should be done. “These attacks are counterproductive and even Republicans know that,” Chitika said.
Any suggestion that Harris is unqualified to run seems almost unthinkable, given the nice success she has already achieved in politics — as vp, Harris is the best-rating woman in the U.S. government.
