Stacey Abrams In A Class Of Her Own At Kamala Harris Rally In Atlanta

Atlanta lit up Tuesday, July 30, at Kamala Harris’s presidential rally on the Georgia State Convocation Center. According to MSNBC, the gang of 10,000 supporters was the biggest the vp has ever drawn. The energy was magnetic. Nine Divine Harris sorority sisters strutted in Alpha Kappa Alpha attire, wearing strands of pearls and the colours pink and green. The South had something to say, something to point out and prove. Atlanta’s most famous celebrities, dignitaries and government officials were within the constructing to incite the gang and support Harris in her bid to win the White House. Martin Luther King III watched from the ceiling as Mayor Andre Dickens, Senators Jeff Osoff and Raphael Warnock took center stage for a performance by Megan Thee Stallion and a message about gun violence from Migos rapper Quavo. While Vice President Harris was the principal attraction, Stacey Abrams was in a league of her own.

Abrams kicked off the evening by walking across the stage to handle a crowd that was mesmerized by her presence. As the 2022 Georgia gubernatorial candidate made her option to the rostrum, rallygoers chanted “STACEY-STACEY-STACEY.” Abrams quickly redirected their enthusiasm and intonation to “Kamala-Kamala-Kamala.” The gesture was thoughtful and in solidarity with Harris. Abrams captivated the audience together with her impassioned speech, reminding them of the impact Georgia voters had on the 2020 presidential election that flipped the state blue and led to Joe Biden’s presidential victory and then-Senator Kamala Harris’ vice presidential nomination.

“Four years ago, we were in a dark place in the state,” Abrams said.

“There was COVID, but there was also Ahmaud Arbery. There was a disease that ravaged our nation and sadness…”

Abrams continued: “But four years ago, when the nation looked around and asked itself, ‘How do we find a way out of this?’ Georgia leaned over and said, ‘Look at us doing this.’”

“Georgia joined in,” Abrams said.

“They said not only will we give you 16 electoral votes and a President Joe Biden, but because we’re from the South, we’ll give you not one, but two U.S. senators.”

Abrams has recently been equally visible on the political stage. In April 2023, the political leader took her talents to Howard University, where she serves because the inaugural Ronald W. Walters Endowed Chair for Race and Black Politics.
