Howard University Deads Homecoming Tailgate Party

Howard University announced the cancellation of its Homecoming Tailgate Party, much to the frustration of many.

The university, situated in Washington, D.C., is celebrating its one centesimal homecoming because the school was founded. The weekend is not going to be without activities. According to Howard’s official website, “A student fashion show, a Greek dance, Yardfest, a homecoming parade, a Young Alumni Day brunch and an alumni jazz brunch are only a number of of the events planned. The centennial celebration of Bisons past and present will look a bit of different this 12 months. Tailgate, a type of Bison family reunion, shall be noticeably absent.

Howard claims that the cancellation of the official Tail Gate Party is on account of the need to “to create a more unique and family-friendly experience on Saturday.”

David Bennett, Senior Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations, wrote, “Every year, Howard Homecoming attracts students, alumni and community members, and this year we are confident that people will be even more excited as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Homecoming,” Bennett continued. “Our intention is to create a week of events that an appeal to all – past, present and even future Bisons.”

Howard, affectionately called “Mecca” by its alumni, is one in all the nation’s leading HBCUs. The institution is understood not just for its education but in addition for its impressive list of celebrity alumni. Current Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Academy Award winner Samuel Jackson Jr. and the late actor Chadwick Boseman have all graced Howard Halls with their presence.
