It’s not only Black women who are mobilizing to support Vice President Kamala Harris — Black men are standing with her, too. On Monday evening, following Sunday’s historic appeal and fundraising event with Black women, greater than 20,000 Black men joined a “Win with Black Men” event hosted by journalist Roland Martin and his Black Star Network in support of Harris’ historic initiative campaign.
After the conversation, Martin posted on X“I’m speechless. And not just because I’m tired. My @BlkStarNetwork just told me 53,862 people have registered for our #WinWithBlackMen video call. We’ve raised $1.3M and counting from 17,000 donors.”
According to Martin, money funds were raised “will go to the Harris campaign as well as grassroots organizations led by black men in key battleground states.”
Within minutes of the Zoom call starting, the variety of participants was already at capability, and Martin made the choice to broadcast the meeting live via YouTube. The meeting was attended by many distinguished Black man elected officials, community organizers and celebrities have publicly expressed their support for Harris, including Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Maryland Governor Wes Moore and U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock.
“This will be a moment in history when the brothers came together to say they all support Kamala Harris for president of the United States,” the senator said. Rafal Warnock it was stated.
“Let’s not let anyone slow us down by asking the question, ‘Can a black woman be elected president of the United States?'” Warnock continued. “Kamala Harris can win. We just have to show up. History is watching us, and the future is waiting for us.”
“When we mobilize, we win. We move mountains” Moore he said. “For Kamala Harris, who has stood by us, lifted us up and supported us, it’s important for her to know that she has an army behind her.”
Devil echoed those sentiments, adding, “The victories that Joe Biden, Raphael Warnock, and Jon Ossoff have had will be repeated with Kamala Harris… We are excited. Now is the time to raise money, find volunteers, and move forward. Let’s keep doing this. Without question. Without fear.”
CNN political analyst and former South Carolina politician Bakari Sellers was also available. “Let’s protect Kamala. Let’s stand with her as if she were there for us,” Sellers said. “We’re going to disagree a lot. But let’s put our petty differences aside. Let’s stand and stand as the black men who change this country. We built this country. I stand with Kamala.”
