The “Fit Check” Queen Highlights the Fashion That Made HBCU Campuses Famous. Jeskell “Skell” Creecy Details Her Journey to Online Sensation

Creecy, a Winston-Salem State graduate, got her start together with her viral “Sit With Skell” videos. In the videos, Creecy asked students at HBCU sporting events to indicate off their outfits through these “fit checks.” She shared how her brand got here about and what he hopes that make the subsequent one.

“During the pandemic, I made a video called ‘My Favorite WSSU Homecoming Outfit,’” Creecy explained. “It wasn’t even called ‘Fit Check,’ but it went viral. I didn’t think other schools would want it, but they did.”

Finding her area of interest online, Creecy plans to travel to other HBCUs while they’re homecoming to maintain the fitness checks going. In her eyes, it’s a marketable strategy to show your pride of their school and trendy tastes.

“Black people have always been synonymous with fashion and clothing,” she explained. “Every HBCU is a mecca for everything fashion, music, everything that’s moving forward. It all started with black culture, so it has to be an HBCU.”

As Fit Checks grows within the HBCU community, its cultural impact can’t be overstated. Creecy now hopes her talent will even take her to the BET Awards, considered the “biggest night in culture,” Next 12 months.

In the meantime, Creecy plans to attend the famous homecomings at Spellhouse, FAMU and Howard to see what their students are as much as within the yard. But the proud WSSU alum is ensuring her alma mater will likely be an element of the highly anticipated tour.

She added, “I think this year is going to be a big year for the Fit Check program, and I will definitely be bringing it back to Winston-Salem State.”

As her content grows, the “Fit Check” queen continues to showcase the colourful trends and creativity nurtured inside the HBCU community.
