Ariana Grande slammed by mother of Jeffrey Dahmer victim for claiming serial killer would be her dream dinner date

Ariana Grande would wish to have dinner with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, but Shirley Hughes, the mother of Tony Hughes, one of Dahmer’s victims, doesn’t wish to do it. Shirley slammed the “Thank U, Next” singer, expressing her outrage to TMZ.

Grande recently guested on the “Podcrushed” audio podcast, where she laughingly admitted that she “would like to meet” the infamous murderer and sex offender who murdered 17 men and boys, most of whom were black.

On a podcast hosted by “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley, she told an odd story. Years ago, during a Q&A with young fans in the corporate of their parents, one of the youngsters asked her, “If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?”

“I was like, ‘Oh, you’re so sweet. Mom and dad, can I give you a real answer?'” Grande said on the podcast, revealing her response to audible gasps within the studio. The pop icon continued, “Jeffrey Dahmer is really fascinating. I would love to meet him.” She then joked that she would wish to have a “third party” with her, presumably for protection.

Shirley said she found it disturbing that the singer would speak so freely about Dahmer and show such a scarcity of empathy for the victims’ family members. She added that it brought back painful trauma for her family. “She seems to be mentally ill,” she said. TMZ“It’s not classy or funny that you just would wish to have dinner with him. “It’s also not something you should be telling young people what she claims she did.”

Tony’s sister, Barbara Hughes, also expressed her displeasure, telling TMZ that Grande’s comments glorified a horrible killer. She called on the singer to publicly apologize in order that her young fans understand that it shouldn’t be okay.

“Unfortunately, until it happens to her and her family, she just doesn’t know what we’ve been through,” the sister said.

Grande also revealed that she had a “crush” on serial killers from a young age, which left viewers concerned.

“Why doesn’t anyone else find this incredibly weird?” – asked a shocked user X. “Where is the media training for celebrities these days?” – asked one other.

Tony Hughes was a deaf, nonverbal gay model living in Madison, Wisconsin, when he was targeted and murdered by the notorious killer in 1991. “Jeffrey Dahmer picked him up, took him home, drugged him, dismembered him and kept his skull,” in accordance with the Associated Press. Considered one of essentially the most gruesome murderers in modern history, he confessed to eating parts of his victims, including hearts. He was also widely considered a racist and was serving 15 consecutive life sentences when he was beaten in prison in 1994.

Tony’s tragic story was dramatized within the Netflix series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which was met with criticism from victims’ families for not highlighting the stories of those murdered when it premiered in 2022. When actor Evan Peters won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Dahmer, Shirley publicly slammed the series for romanticizing the serial killer, stating that “it’s a shame that people can take our tragedy and make money.”
