Following a series of successful court battles by conservative groups, several groups are calling on President Joe Biden and his administration to make further efforts to protect diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). A federal appeals court recently suspended its Fearless Fund program, which provides grants to businesses run by Black women, over claims it discriminated against white business owners. The fund’s co-founder, Arian Simone, has since called on President Biden to take executive motion to “secure DEI initiatives and funding rights for marginalized groups.” Similarly, the Conference of Leaders on Civil and Human Rights sent a letter to President Biden this week, urging him to do every little thing in his power to “promote, protect, and expand programs that advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.”
