Donald Trump stated on June 14 in an interview with Semafor that he couldn’t possibly be a racist because he had “so many black friends.”

“I have so many black friends that if I was a racist they wouldn’t be friends, they would know better than anyone else and fast. They wouldn’t even be with me for two minutes if they thought I was a racist – and I’m not a racist!” he said in response to claims that he is a racist.

The 78-year-old former president went thus far as to say he could discover with black voters because he claims he is discriminated against by the criminal justice system.

“I think it happens by osmosis,” he explained. “They see what’s going on. Many of them feel that something similar happened to them. I mean, they made it very clear and very clear to me. They see what happened to them.”

As President Joe Biden and Trump approach the November election, their campaigns are focused on gaining the eye and support of Black voters.

An NBC News poll shows Biden leading against Trump with black voters, but seeing their numbers decline. Biden leads “71% to 13%, but that is down from 2020 exit polls that showed Biden leading 87% to 12%.

This is not the primary time Trump has bragged about his popularity with black voters. In 2020, Trump claimed he had done more for the Black community than he knew.

“I actually have said it, and I say it openly, and few people deny it: I actually have done more for black Americans than anyone else, except perhaps Abraham Lincoln. No one was even close.

Trump’s claims recalled a few of his past violations against minorities, most notably his public calls for the death penalty against the now-acquitted Central Park Five in 1989.
