Born and raised on Detroit’s west side, Charles Wilson III, known professionally as BLKBOK, is an artist, pianist, composer and lover of individuals.
Earlier this 12 months, Natasha S. Alford spoke to BLKBOK about how she deals with backlash for simply being herself, and the talented artist performed a track from her song “SHADOW X LIGHT.” He says he has encountered resistance because there are standards for what classical music should appear like. BLKBOK says he desires to give you the option to perform on stage and be a “Blackity Black”. His advice to other musicians of color is to not conform and be who you might be.
