More customers prefer “quiet” visits to the hair salon

Hair salons are adapting to the needs of their more socially reserved clients. The option of a “quiet” hair appointment is gaining popularity amongst customers, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.

Traditionally in Black-owned salons, the beauty salon was the center of gossip and community between clients and stylists. However, this atmosphere gives way to a less communal experience. Currently, customers can go for silent services, wherein only the sounds coming from the tools themselves could be heard.

Shocked by this alteration, hair stylists noticed that increasingly customers were giving up conversations in favor of silence. Jenna Bisk, director of the San Bercato salon in New York, witnesses the growing phenomenon in her store. She its popularity is related to the introduction of distant work.

“We didn’t think it would be as popular as it is now. We probably get about 1-2 (requests) a day,” Bisk explained to FOX 5 Atlanta. Lots of persons are working remotely now, but they still want to are available in and get their hair done and so they can do this while they’re here.”

The hairdresser also believes that social unrest brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic can also be a cause.

“…A lot of people can be nervous when they come in and have to have a short conversation with a provider,” Bisk explained.

The number of tension disorders has increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to an article published by the National Library of Medicine, these are specific cases increased by 25.9 percent or a further 76.2 million anxiety diagnoses worldwide.

Even though the world has eased pandemic restrictions, the unwanted effects still linger – social distancing is, in lots of cases, the unspoken norm at the food market. The full extent of the negative effects of COVID protocols remain unclear, although a leisurely visit to the hairdresser could mark a marked change in the way people interact.
