Kerry Washington Will Join ‘Knives Out 3’

Kerry Washington is heading into the world of Knives Out.

According to reports, the actress will star within the upcoming mystery sequel alongside Daniel Craig, who will reprise his role as Detective Benoit Blanc. Diversity. “Challengers” star Josh O’Connor, actor Andrew Scott and actress Cailee Spaeny join Washington and Craig in the brand new film.

The Knives Out franchise has gained a fame for casting a few of Hollywood’s A-listers, with Janelle Monáe and Leslie Odom Jr. appeared within the second film “Glass Onion”. Rian Johnson returns to direct and write a 3rd film titled “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.”

Johnson and Craig stated that the third film is “the most dangerous case in Benoit’s history,” but in keeping with Variety, no official plot details have been released yet. According to Variety, production of “Wake Up Dead Man” will begin soon and the premiere is predicted in 2025.

Washington has been a mainstay within the industry for years, appearing in hit movies and shows including “Scandal,” “Little Fires Everywhere,” “Ray,” “Save the Last Dance” and “Django Unchained.” He currently stars in Hulu’s “UnPrisoned,” which he also executive produces.

The 47-year-old starlet released her memoir, “Thicker Than Water,” in 2023. The book details lots of Washington’s life experiences, including her time on “Scandal,” growing up within the Bronx and the revelation that she recently discovered that her father, Earl Washington, was not her biological father.

“I found out that my dad, who raised me, is not my biological father,” Washington told Erica D. Smith on the Los Angeles Times Book Festival, per People. “And it was something my parents had every intention of never telling me, but they were forced to.”

“I felt that if I was to write about myself, I had to write about these deeper truths,” the actress said on the time. “I had much larger, life-changing information to include.”

Washington added that certainly one of her “first impulses” when learning about her true parentage was “to tell my dad how much I love him and to tell him that nothing will change and that nothing will be different.”

“My love for him… my love and my intimacy with my parents has deepened through this exchange because I feel once we keep secrets, especially family secrets, it is often because we’re so afraid that if the reality comes out , if we win, we are going to not be loved, that we are going to not be loved, that there will likely be resentment and anger over the key that was kept,” Washington said.

“So I think once the burden of that secret was gone, my parents and I had a lot more space to be who we really are with each other.”
