Da’Vine Joy Randolph to star in A24’s romantic comedy “Eternity”

Da’Vine Joy Randolph dives into the world of romance.

The actress, who won her first Oscar on the Academy Awards in March 2024, will star in A24’s upcoming romantic comedy “Eternity.” Diversity. Randolph will join Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner in the film, which can mark her first appearance in an A24 project.

The plot of “Eternity” is being closely guarded, but Variety reports that it is going to follow characters who “must decide who they want to spend eternity with.” The film is directed by David Freyne, and the script was written by “Designated Survivor” screenwriter Patrick Cunnane.

Financed by A24 and produced by Oscar-nominated producers Trevor White and Tim White, the film will begin production this summer.

Randolph has had a tumultuous 12 months thus far. In addition to winning her first Academy Award, the 38-year-old actress also won a Golden Globe, BAFTA, SAG, Critics’ Choice and AAFCA Awards for Best Supporting Actress, recognizing her role as school cafeteria manager and grieving mother Mary Lamb in “Detentions “.

She fully embodied the character, sharing in her AAFCA Awards acceptance speech that she wore her grandmother’s glasses to add a private touch to the role.

“I knew I was always different,” Randolph said on the time. “That’s why I thought maybe I should adapt to something different, because when I grew up watching the show for many years, I didn’t necessarily see myself there. And yet it was a model of success.”

“So I went on this journey of trying to figure out how I could adapt to it, because I thought that was what success would mean,” she continued. “Throughout my journey, I began to discover that by being myself, doing my job, staying focused, motivated and clear, I could do the exact same thing by being myself.”
