Five Black female content creators have been chosen to take part in a brand new producer fellowship program, a collaboration between the Blackhouse Foundation and STARZ’s #TakeTheLead initiative. The fellowship will provide participants with educational workshops, personal and skilled mentoring, coaching and industry meetings with key stakeholders to support the mid-career manufacturing community.

STARZ #TakeTheLead is targeted on shining a light-weight on the narratives about women and other underrepresented audiences while impacting them. Sue-Ellen Chitunya, Jessica L. Funches, Moira Griffin, Dahéli Hall and Trevite Willis were chosen as this system’s first group of fellows.

“We are excited to partner with The Blackhouse Foundation to help develop new talent and increase the number of Black female producers, which is essential to our business as a network focused on women and underrepresented audiences,” STARZ executive Kathryn Busby said in an announcement.

Blackhouse Foundation alumni have been chosen to welcome creators during a three-day intensive weekend in Los Angeles. “We are thrilled to have found a partner in STARZ, which allows us to rethink the year-round programs we have done in the past and make them work better for a smaller group,” said Jenean Glover, executive director of the Blackhouse Foundation.

“The goal of the three-day intensive training is to provide personalized feedback and noteworthy tips, combined with the expertise of our moderator Darrien Gipson, to prepare these candidates to enter the episodic room in the near future as non-writing or writing producers,” Glover said.

The fellowship may even provide a brand new process for engaging mentors/alumni to support each participant’s current and future projects.
