‘Bridgerton’ star Golda Rosheuvel is touched by a special message from Shonda Rhimes
“Bridgerton” actress Golda Rosheuvel held back tears Monday after receiving the unexpected news while on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”
After Rosheuvel explained how she landed the role of Queen Charlotte, Hudson told the Netflix star that she had a surprise for her. Shonda Rhimes, the show’s creator, appeared within the video and sent a heartfelt message. She expressed her love and support when Rosheuvel appeared on the daytime talk show.
“I’m thrilled to be on The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Rhimes said. “She’s amazing. You’re amazing. It’s a meeting of two queens and that’s how it should be. I love you and have fun.”
Rosheuvel burst into tears after watching the tape and talked about how playing Queen Charlotte impacted the show’s fans.
“Being involved in ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘Queen Charlotte: The Bridgerton Story’ is one of the greatest honors of my life,” Rosheuvel said. “… So many people come up to me every day and tell me how much this character has changed their lives in such a way that their dreams are now bigger for themselves, their families and their communities.”

“Bridgerton” fans met Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte in 2020 in the course of the first season of the Netflix rom-com. The series has since spawned a prequel spin-off, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.”
Netflix recently released the trailer for the third season of “Bridgerton,” which premieres on May 16. The third season will likely be split into two parts, with the second part available for streaming on June 13.
