Anti-DEI efforts fueled Black employment gains nationwide in March 2024 –
I offer a thought-provoking claim: The recent unemployment rate for Black Americans can have increased because of the recent wave of anti-DEI efforts, primarily from the education and company sectors.
According to a brand new report from Creative Investment Research, the upper unemployment rate for Black people nationwide in March 2024 is potentially because of specific incidents that highlight the impact of anti-DEI measures on Black employment.

In his report, Cunningham explained that the white unemployment rate remained relatively stable from January 2023 to March 2024, starting from 3.1% to three. 5%.
For Black people, he believes the speed increased from 5.4% to five.8% in November 2023, then dropped to five.2% in December 2023, but increased to six% in March 2024. 4%.
On the opposite hand, Cunningham noted that the unemployment rate for Asians is lower across all groups. It was 3.5% in November 2023, down from 2.5% in March 2024. For Latinos, he noted, the speed dropped from 5% in December 2023 to 4.5% in March 2024.
He emphasized that the explanation for the rising unemployment rate amongst black people, in addition to the declining and stable unemployment rates amongst white, Asian and Latino people, is the preferential employment of individuals of Asian and Latino origin over black people.
“We attribute this to systemic bias and increasing anti-Black hiring practices, in part resulting from recent anti-DEI efforts,” says Cunningham BLACK ENTERPRISES.
The University of Texas announced Cunningham says the massive job cuts in DEI resulted in a direct lack of 100 positions, a move echoed by educational institutions in many states.
At the identical time, he claims that giant corporations including Meta, Tesla, Door Dash, Lyft, Home Depot, Wayfair and X are reducing the variety of employees on their DEI team. Additionally, Google, Zoom, and Snap have either scaled back their DEI efforts or outsourced them.
“These actions illustrate the direct correlation between the reduction of DEI positions and the increase in Black unemployment,” he says.
On a positive note, Cunningham says there was a rise in the Black labor force participation rate, which implies more Black persons are searching for work. He says the upper activity shows that Black persons are still searching for work despite anti-DEI efforts.
