NEW YORK (AP) – President Joe Biden is anticipated to deliver a live virtual keynote address Friday on the Rev. Al Sharpton’s Racial Justice Conference in New York, organizers said.

Biden, who’s targeting his Democratic pitch to black voters in the autumn ahead of a rematch with former Republican President Donald Trump, touts his achievements and highlights policies he has put in place to deal with deep-seated racial inequality as he addresses the National Action Network’s annual convention, hosted by the White House reported on Thursday.

The statement, first shared with The Associated Press, ends a week of appearances by Biden administration officials and other outstanding local and national politicians. Vice President Kamala Harris personally addressed the convention last 12 months.

Biden is just not expected to take questions from attendees after his remarks Friday. Sharpton, who commonly meets with a small group of civil rights leaders on the White House on issues affecting Black Americans, will lead a discussion with participants after the president’s speech.

While Biden has historically enjoyed strong support and approval from Black Democrats, 45% of Black Americans said they disapproved of the way in which he was handling his role as president in March, in line with a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Public Affairs Research Center. Just over half agreed.
