Ice Spice will make his big screen debut opposite Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s thriller
The rapper will try her hand at acting in the upcoming crime thriller “High and Low”.
It looks like Ice Spice could also be adding “actress” to her resume with a brand new gig. Rapper will be there debuts on the big screen in Spike Lee’s recent movie. “High and Low” is an English-language reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller.
Apple Original Films announced production of the project co-written by Lee and Alan Fox earlier this week with a social media post featuring Ice Spice and Denzel Washington. According to Variety, the film, produced by Apple Original Films and A24, relies on Kurosawa’s 1963 film starring Toshiro Mifune, based on Ed McBain’s novel “King’s Ransom,” a few businessman’s damage after paying a ransom to his kidnappers. The film will have a theatrical release before being available on AppleTV+.
Ice Spice has already began shooting for the film, which will be her first entry into the world of acting. If her music profession is any indication, she’s poised for nice success.
She has already earned 4 Grammy nominations this yr, including nominations for best recent artist and best rap song, regardless that she has yet to release her first full-length album, “Y2K,” which is scheduled for release later this yr.
Although her music profession began with collaborations with big names in the music industry equivalent to Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, her journey to Hollywood appears to be following an analogous trajectory. We cannot wait to see what energy the “Muncha” rapper will bring to the big screen.
“High and Low” is Lee and Washington’s fifth collaboration. The duo hasn’t worked together since 2006’s Inside Man. They previously worked together on “Mo’ Better Blues,” “He Got Game” and “Malcolm X.”
It’s also a reunion between Washington and producer Todd Black, who collaborated on “Fences,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and “The Equalizer.”
