‘Stealing white people’s music’: Angry racists slam Michelle Obama for using Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ album to push narrative that Black people have ‘redefined’ country music
Some X users are apparently upset with former first lady Michelle Obama after she praised Beyoncé for her latest country music-influenced album “Cowboy Carter.”
On April 2, Obama congratulated the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer with a lengthy Instagram post during which he expressed how proud he was of Bey for helping her “redefine the music genre and transform our culture.” intense blow.
On her latest album, Beyoncé uses several sounds, including the banjo, which is a staple of country music. The banjo was created by enslaved Africans, in addition to their descendants within the Caribbean and North America.
Despite the actual fact that country music originated within the South partly through black guitarists Lesley Riddle and Rufus “Tee Tot” Payne – who influenced the music of country icons Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and the Carter Family – many critics believes that the species is being stolen from them.
Either way, “Cowboy Carter” broke streaming records on each Spotify and Amazon, and the “Becoming” writer congratulated Beyoncé on the album’s success.
Obama shared a photograph of the singer and with subtitles post partly: “@Beyonce, you might be a record holder and history maker. With Cowboy Carter, you’ve got modified the sport once more, helping to redefine the music genre and transform our culture. I’m so happy with you!”
She also encouraged people to vote. “There is power in our stories, our joy and our voices – and each of us can use our gifts and talents to make our voices heard on the issues that matter most to us.”

“Redefine the Music Genre” he wrote one. “Isn’t that called ‘cultural appropriation’?” Another offended X user he replied“I loved country music before this DEI trash came along.”
“Oh, she’s not stealing white people’s music She?” Another person he complained“I am offended that Beyoncé appropriated my culture and heritage in the way she did.” One he replied“Black people always try to take credit for white people’s accomplishments.”
While many offended trolls were upset by Obama’s post, others celebrated her message with congratulations to Beyoncé. “It’s crazy that people are negative about this post” he replied one. “They can’t even stand Black FLOTUS congratulating the Black Queen without spreading hate.” Other he wrote, “Our Eternal First Lady has spoken!!! Any questions?!!! Let’s go!! VOTE!!”
“Cowboy Carter” features collaborations with several country stars corresponding to Snoop Dogg’s friend Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Linda Martell.
