Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce face backlash after media created ‘Love & Basketball’ test poster featuring the couple as ‘Love & Lombardi’
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are seen by many as America’s dream couple, but not everyone seems to be completely happy about it.
While many individuals have accepted that these media darlings will now be seen on TV until the next season, some on social media are uninterested in always showing their love. Moreover, they’re uninterested in mainstream media attempting to link their coverage to certain sacred cows in areas of black culture.
First it was the pop singer “Swag Surfin'” at a football game just a few weeks ago.
Kelce then danced to “You Gotta Fight For Your Right” by the Beastie Boys at the top of the 2024 Super Bowl and is credited with popularizing the “Fade” hairstyle.
Now it’s about changing the visuals of the cult classic movie “Love & Basketball” produced by sports outlet Overtime.
The original poster shows actors Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps sharing a kiss while holding a basketball. Their characters in the 2000 romantic drama, Monica Wright and Quincy “Que” McCall, were childhood friends who grew up as ballistas and eventually fell in love.
In a brand new photo circulating online, Swift is seen lying in her boyfriend’s arms with the two of them holding the Lombardi trophy above their heads. The artist cleverly titled the painting “Love & Lombardi”.
The meme was simply an excessive amount of for people, who exploded in outrage when The Neighborhood Watch posted it to their account Instagram profile. One query arose in the tone of the comments, especially in February: “How much disrespect does this culture have to endure?”
“No, they are going too far,” one person wrote. Another added: “It’s black history month, show some respect for this black classic film!”
“From February 1, we felt disrespectedstreet” reads one other comment, guessing: “I think it has something to do with the August Chair Gate.”
The backlash was so overwhelming that Overtime completely deleted the post from its social media accounts.
Even though persons are indignant about the funny photo posted by Overtime, neither Taylor nor Kelce are taking note of anyone.
Immediately after the Kansas City Chiefs won a giant game with a 25-22 additional time win over the San Francisco 49ers, Swift gave her man a passionate kiss in the middle of the field at Allegiant Stadium.
The two later celebrated the championship at a victory party, singing her hits “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” together.
One clip circulating on social media shows Swift and his group dancing excitedly to an EDM remix of the singer’s chart-topping single in 2008.

They each smile at one another, mouthing the words, “It’s a love story, baby, just say yes.” Wearing her boo’s jacket, she jumps up, throws her arms around his neck, and kisses him again.
The second clip shows Kelce and the 14-time Grammy winner serenading one another to the club’s medley “You Belong With Me.”
It’s a monumental moment for the pair as the tight end and his teammates made history as the NFL’s first multi-time champion in nearly 20 years. Before Sunday, the last team to win back-to-back was the 2003-04 Patriots. After the victory and during the presentation of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, No. 87 took the microphone and led the crowd of enthusiastic fans, including Swift, in a chant of Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas.”
As for the “Midnights” singer, she took home her fourth Grammy Award for Album of the Year earlier this month.
They each woke up with the joy of being champions and were almost certainly unaware of how their sweet love irritated so many in the world.
