Rashee Rice wanted in connection with multi-car crash in Dallas
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is a winger subject of a search by Dallas police regarding a multi-car accident that occurred on March 30. Rice is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and grew up in the Dallas suburb of North Richland Hills before being chosen by the Chiefs in the 2023 NFL Draft.
A vehicle registered or rented by Rice was reportedly involved in a crash on the North Central Expressway in Dallas around 6:20 p.m. According to law enforcement officials, officers are searching for Rice for his possible involvement in the crash.
Kristin Lowman, a spokeswoman for the Dallas Police Department, told the agency that an investigation revealed that the motive force of a Chevrolet Corvette and a Lamborghini was driving in the far left lane when each drivers lost control of the vehicle. Lowman said the Lamborghini “struck the vehicle’s center wall, causing a chain collision involving four other vehicles.”
She also told the newspaper that the drivers of each vehicles left the scene on foot without checking whether other individuals who might need been involved in the collision needed help or passing on information to anyone.
Lowman didn’t express any understanding that Rice or anyone else driving the Lamborghini was involved in street racing, but sources said police believed the cars were racing when the failure occurred.
The call report shows that Rice is suspected of driving a Corvette. It just isn’t yet known whether Rice faces any charges related to the crash, but there may be dashcam video of the crash that has appeared on social media.
Kayla Quinn, a 27-year-old mother, said she didn’t appreciate the dearth of concern shown by the drivers of the 2 sports cars. “No one stopped,” Quinn said. “We had kids, we had kids, you know what I’m saying? It’s just that there’s no compassion shown even when you all have the decency to stop and check if someone’s okay and if someone’s alive, you know?”
Quinn continued by saying she wanted them to be charged with child endangerment. “I’m just trying to keep the faith and just… you know, what happens in the dark comes to light and everything comes to light,” Quinn said. “You made it worse for yourself. You thought you escaped, but you didn’t escape. I’m just joyful I used to be in a position to get out of there since it might have been a lot worse.
Marc Lenahan, a lawyer representing one among the crash victims, told the newspaper that the world where the crash occurred is a well known place for horse riding. “It’s terrible, but not surprising,” Lenahan said. “Everyone in DFW knows this part of Dallas is a magnet for ride-hailing enthusiasts.”
As of yet, Rice just isn’t listed in any Dallas County Jail records and has not yet been charged or detained. Multiple outlets have attempted to contact Kansas City executives and Rice representatives, but neither has responded as of this writing. According to Josina Anderson, senior NFL insider for CBS Sports, Rice has retained legal counsel and a release on the incident is anticipated on April 1.
