The content creator wanted to spend a great vacation with his best friend in the Dominican Republic, but ended up experiencing a traveler’s worst nightmare when he was woken up in the midnight by a stranger sleeping next to him.

“Do not come to RIU Republic of Punta Cana. I’ll tell you why” – TikToker @meganntheesta1lion explained in a viral video posted on March 4: “The service here is really terrible and they don’t care about you.”

Then a young man named Nick said, “Tell me why I woke up to someone in my damn bed.”

Describing the rationale for his warning against the hotel, Nick explains that a key card is required to enter the room, and explains that the room was indeed locked before he retired for the night. In addition, he called again and reported an incident that had resulted in him being locked out and needing assistance to enter, which could only be done with a latest card from the lobby.

Nick notices that the hotel room was not equipped with deadbolts or latch locks for added security, leaving him unable to safely secure himself while sleeping – something he didn’t consider vital until the person entered his room and he entered his bed and fell asleep while he lay there.

“Someone came into my room and slept in my bed while I was in bed,” he said angrily.

Nick says that after shouting at the stranger to leave the room, he ran to the hotel reception to speak to the manager.

“So I went and talked to the manager,” Nick disgustedly tells his 3,015 TikTok followers.

According to Nick, the manager blamed it on him, informing him that he was actually in the improper room.

After debunking the claim, the TikToker shared photos of the man in bed and then looked through security cameras with his manager to see if he was telling the reality.

The manager endured, insisting that Nick was improper.

“I do know for a proven fact that it was me in my bed. What are you talking about? Then he said, “There’s nothing I can do for you.” No, I can not compensate you for that. The door was open,” he recalls.

“I didn’t unlock it,” Nick tells the manager. “Why is there a man in my bed? You will not do anything? Won’t you care? I’m in a foreign country. I literally could have been killed.”

Despite asking for help, the manager told Nick he couldn’t help.

Social media was quick to cover his experience, sympathizing with him over the crazy incident.

“I’m canceling my girlfriend’s hen party, thanks for letting me know,” one person commented on TikTok.

People on Platform X were struck by a photo of a black man with curls in bed, joking, “He slept well.”

Several people have had similar experiences with RIU hotel chains and shared their experiences in Nick’s comments.

“I LOVE RIU REPUBLIC! But yes, it’s the wild, wild west, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. I passed out in the hall and woke up with a blanket and a piña colada next to me,” said the TikTok user.

Another wrote: “Wait…I experienced this at RIU Santa Fe in Cabo. I also took photos and videos, but they didn’t make any impression on me either.”

The woman commenting stated that she also had a similar experience to Nick. “I was assigned someone new to my room when I stayed at Riu Republica. While I was changing, two people came in, claiming they had just been assigned a room and entered using a key card,” she confirms.
