Joy Reid criticizes Donald Trump for his disastrous mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic

MSNBC anchor Joy Reid has slammed Donald Trump for what she says is a terrible oversight of the coronavirus pandemic during his presidency.

Reid, flanked by other MSNBC correspondents and invited guests, delivered her critical remarks during a segment covering Super Tuesday, one of the most significant nights of the presidential primaries when voters in 15 states and one territory select their Democratic and Republican candidates.

President Joe Biden and Trump dominated the election, with Trump only losing the Republican primary in Vermont to former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who withdrew from the presidential race at the end of the evening. Their primary elections provide a powerful foundation that can prepare them for a comeback ahead of the November general election.

National news stations filled their primetime shows with coverage of each candidate. In an episode of MSNBC, Reid criticized Trump for his handling of the Covid-19 crisis before he was kicked out of the White House in 2020.

“Donald Trump had one job. He had one crisis. They called it a pandemic and you completely screwed it up,” Reid said. “You did a poor job of handling your one crisis. He screwed it up so bad that they had to make use of stimulation.

Reid uses the word “stimulus” to confer with the stimulus checks the federal government awarded to Americans in 2020 and 2021.

“People loved the pacer. Why did he need to perform stimulation? Because there are a million bodies in the ground because of how poorly he handled the airborne virus,” Reid continued.

The U.S. government’s delayed response to Covid-19 because it began spreading across the states caused a sequence response that affected thousands and thousands of Americans. Insufficient resources, testing of supply shortages, widespread misunderstandings, in addition to Trump’s careless approach and false claims about the virus have hampered the feds’ ability to get ahead of the growing crisis and left it to states to compensate for the shortfalls.

Many state and native governments have implemented long-term lockdowns, curfews, mask mandates and social distancing guidelines. Epidemics were spreading and hospitals were overcrowded. People who need loads of help have lost their jobs and family members because of the pandemic.

In March and December 2020, Trump signed two massive stimulus packages that gave $1,200 and $600 checks to American adults. The measures also increased unemployment advantages, aid for small businesses and vaccine distribution.

Americans were overwhelmingly in favor of controls. Some Black voters even began to support Trump, despite the problems vulnerable and underfunded communities faced in obtaining coronavirus tests and accessing health care during the height of the pandemic.

President Biden signed one more coronavirus relief bill in 2021, which distributed $1,400 to thousands and thousands of Americans.

Covid-19 infections in the US proceed to spread. Since the pandemic began, the CDC estimates that just about seven million Americans have been hospitalized and greater than 1.1 million have died from coronavirus-related complications.
