Famed civil rights lawyer Ben Crump will deliver the keynote address at the 123rd National Black Business Conference

The 123rd National Black Business Conference continues its commitment to the economic empowerment of the Black community and has a superb keynote speaker to prove it.

According to a press release, the conference will be led by attorney Ben Crump, a outstanding civil rights attorney who helped negotiate a landmark settlement for the family of Henrietta Lacks in the unauthorized use of her cell phones. As founding father of Ben Crump Law PLLC, he emphasized the importance of Black entrepreneurship as a way of wealth creation, which is the central message and mission of the conference.

The conference, founded by Booker T. Washington in 1900, was formerly often called the National Negro Business League. For over 100 years, the conference has gathered thought leaders, activists and next-generation changemakers.

Crump, who represents the families of Trayvon Martin, Martin, Ahmaud Arbery, Martin Lee Anderson and Breonna Taylor, has been advocating for civil and economic justice for greater than twenty years.

Last yr, Crump represented a former Google worker after the tech giant got here under fire for discriminating against its employees. In March 2022, employees filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging business “has a ‘pattern and practice’ of unfair treatment of its black employees. Suit [also] claims that the company has placed them in lower-level, lower-paid positions and exposed them to a hostile work environment if they speak out,” as previously reported by ESSENCE.

Attorney Ben Crump he said“Google says its No. 1 core value is working with great people… When you consider the claims of these minorities and look at the data, you can conclude that Google apparently believes that great people are white people. In the process, we proclaim to Google that Black and brown people are great people too.”
