Today fifty fifth NAACP Image Awards invited the shining stars of Black Hollywood to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. As the legendary Queen Latifah returns as host for a second yr, the evening is devoted to honoring their achievements in a wide range of industries – from television and film to literature and music. But first, stars appeared on the red carpet to serve with glances for a moment; a celebration of beauty and black excellence before the ceremony begins.

NAACP nominee (and ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood honoree) Danielle Brooks arrived at the awards ceremony with a gold-wrapped ponytail and a curl pinned to her brow. Her classic, neutral makeup matched Sabrina Elba – whose mermaid eyes needed no makeup in any respect. Sheryl Lee Ralph continued the bob trend on the red carpet, showing off full curls and sculpted pink. Meanwhile, dreamy Damson Idris ought to be nominated in the “Outstanding Skin” category because of his poreless complexion.

Award winners Taraji P. HensonQuinta Brunson’s finger waves and slicked-back curls and glossy baby hair took us back to classic Hollywood glamour. When did America’s sweetheart Keke Palmer occur? She showed up with black and white smokey eye shadow and a matte nude lip. On the same page, Eva Marcille added pink eyeliner to the black tie look that dominated the evening.

Below, we’re sharing 20 of our favorite looks from the NAACP Awards red carpet.
