A new study shows that women were more represented in music than in previous years

“Women are the most innovative people in this field,” Tinashe said. “We constantly need celebrations and gifts of flowers. It’s very nice that we have such opportunities. There are so many new artists doing just that, and other girls who have been doing it for a really long time are getting recognition. I’m just happy to see it all.”

Women from all genres of music were honored on the Billboard Women In Music gala for his or her commitment to their craft and pushing the culture forward with their unique sounds. Victoria Monét, Tems, Ice Spice, GloRilla, Coco Jones and other artists got here to just accept awards and support their peers.

In an area crammed with musicians celebrating, the evening was also an indication of positive changes in the lives of women in the music industry.

“For the second year in a row, the percentage of female artists on the popular charts increased,” said Stacy L. However, it is still important to acknowledge that there is room for growth. Throughout the 12 years of the study, women held less than a quarter of artist positions, and these numbers still do not reflect the 50 percent of women in the population and music audience.”
