Dillard Bassett has been discussing her skin tone and coloring intimately over the past yr and keeping it that way she was vilified by fans on various occasions in a way that her forged members, most of whom have much lighter skin tones (with the exception of friend Wendy Osefo and newcomer Nneka Ihim), should not.

She is married to chef Chris Bassett, who’s Caucasian. She introduced him on RHOP during season three once they were engaged. The singer and reality TV host said she didn’t think that when she met her now husband, her children might need lighter skin.

“Whatever happens, happens,” she concluded. “But I didn’t think about it [that] when I fell in love and thought, “Oh, this is my husband.” Oh wait, I’m going to have these spinning babies.”

Bassett also says she thought she would marry a black man and dated black men most of her life. Nevertheless, love got here in a distinct package.

“It just didn’t happen and I was open to the idea that it would be someone else,” she said. The reality star also said her family is accepting of Chris beyond her dad, saying he all the time “imagined someone who looked like me” would be her husband, but that was more of a comment than a dissent.

The Bassetts do not have children together yet, however the 37-year-old mentioned that her husband has given her a timeline. She has openly said previously that she doesn’t want children instantly, but she recently decided to undergo in vitro fertilization and in the newest season she declared that she was ready to give birth to baby Bassett. During the podcast chat, she also briefly touched on the life of an extra mom. Her husband has three children from previous relationships.

“I have extra children. They are wonderful,” the singer and TV personality beamed. She added that Chris doesn’t maintain contact with the eldest due to the conflict with the kid’s mother.

“His two younger children are amazing. We talk to them, they live out of state [so] We need to meet them and bring them to us,” she said.

“But they are at that age where they are little adults, they have their own opinions and thoughts, they have goals, for example talking about going to school,” she added.

She married Chris in 2018 on the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC
