Dr. Dre appreciates “life” after three strokes

Dr. Dre talks about his newfound appreciation for all times after suffering three strokes attributable to a brain aneurysm in 2021.

The hip-hop mogul sat down for a moment honest chat on SiriusXM, where he went back three years to recall the “three strokes” he experienced after being hospitalized for a brain aneurysm. A traumatic health scare helped Dre (real name Andre Young) “appreciate the fact that he’s alive” greater than ever before.

The Death Row Records co-founder was spending time at home along with his son when he felt a wierd feeling behind his “right ear” that soon became the “worst pain” he had ever experienced.

“I got up, talked about my day, and thought I could just lie down and take a nap. “My son had a friend who was there and she said, ‘No, we have to take you to the hospital,'” Dre recalled.

After stopping by the emergency room, staff told the Beats By Dre creator that his condition was too “serious” and he needed to go to the hospital.

“The next thing you realize, I’m passing out. I went out and in of consciousness and ended up within the ICU. I used to be there for 2 weeks,” Dre said. “I hear the doctors are available in and (say), ‘You don’t understand how lucky you’re.'”

Given Dre’s passion for fitness and maintaining physical health, he wondered if he could have done more to forestall the aneurysm. However, he soon learned how hereditary the condition was in black men.

“No one was able to provide me a solution. I had no idea I had hypertension or anything like that as I’m sick…. “I lift weights, I run, I do everything I can to stay healthy,” Dre said.

“High blood pressure in black men, that is what it’s all about. They call it the silent killer. You just don’t know, so you realize you could have to regulate your s.

He left the hospital with a brand new zest for all times. However, he didn’t make any drastic lifestyle changes since the aneurysm was something he had “no control over” and “can happen unexpectedly.”

Dre was not feeling well on account of health problems and suffered three strokes within the two weeks following the aneurysm.

“It’s something you can’t control, it just happens, and in those two weeks I had three strokes,” he said.

Dr. Dre returned to the stage a yr later with a legendary Super Bowl halftime performance featuring himself, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar. He received the inaugural Global Impact Award on the Grammys last month before receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 19.
