Warby Parker and Theophilio are throwing a party to showcase their latest collection

Edvin Thompson’s life in Jamaica is the predominant inspiration for each collection he presents. His latest eyewear collection with Warby Parker is one other reflection of this idea. The sunglasses are available 4 different shades that nod to his colourful background of his Jamaican heritage: “Shade”, “Lemon Slice” and “Sorrel”. The “Soursop” colorway might be sold exclusively via the Black Fashion Fair platform.
To rejoice their collaborative collection, Theophilio and Warby Parker hosted a Jamaican-themed fete within the East Village last night at Jamaican restaurant Miss Lily’s. Red lighting and the atmosphere created by DJ MORESOUPPLEASE and the event’s stylish guests created a fun-filled night harking back to Kingston, Jamaica. The designer was seen dancing together with his fashionable friends wearing sunglasses displayed outside the restaurant. Famous guests of the evening included dancer Honey Balenciaga, photographers Quil Lemons and Myles Loftin, New York designer Jacques Agobly and author Marjon Carlos.
This limited edition design is inspired by Thompson’s childhood nickname “Shaunie.” The nostalgic yet futuristic frame embodies Theophilio’s design ethos, evoking memories of home. The Caribbean color scheme of red, yellow and black brings Thompson back to Jamaica. “I see my youth and my parents in them, but I also see the form of things to come. This collaboration is about where I come from as a designer and where I’m going next,” Thompson said on the Black Fashion Fair website.
The frames are designed as square shapes with rounded corners and thick sides, inspired by a pair of Thompson’s father’s glasses that he wore on a flight from Jamaica to America. Black Fashion Fair has a long-standing partnership with Theophilo, best known for their collaborative BFF T-shirts with custom family portraits printed on T-shirts with a dazzling logo.
Shop the Warby Parker X Theophilio “Shaunie” collection on March 19 at warbyparker.com, the Warby Parker app and select Warby Parker stores. “Soursop” frames might be available exclusively on blackfashionfair.org/theophilio.
