What cannot Serena Williams do? Since picking up a tennis racket on the age of 4, she has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 4 Olympic gold medals. Not to say, she is now a mother of two, a faithful wife, and an entrepreneur who runs an investment firm, Serena Ventures, and Will Perform, a topical painkiller company that launched in December 2022.
However, motherhood is currently on the forefront for Williams, as she recently gave birth to her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, in August 2023. While she was happily having fun with motherhood together with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, Williams expressed her desire to return to the gym and adjust her exercise routine. Just six months after giving birth to her daughter, we found Williams practicing squats with heavy weights on the gym. In her Instagram Reel shot in January 2024, she told fans how she was getting back into the swing of things and captioned the post: “Back to the swing #Thisishowyoudoit.” She also said, “It’s not my usual weight, but I’ll keep doing it until I’m back to my old weight.”
After only a month, she began to see progress when one other Reel showed her in a sports bra and leggings, showing off a few of her stomach, and captioned the video post: “Feeling confident.” We then saw her strut down the red carpet in a good, bodycon dress throughout the awards season, especially the Grammys. At the top, she showed a photograph of herself in a lavender bikini, holding a newborn baby and putting on her newly sculpted belly. She captioned the post: “Loving yourself is essential. I find that I need to remind myself of this self-love at all stages of my life. Right now I love that my body isn’t perfect. I love that I smell like milk – the milk lasts @adiraohanian I love exploring a new version of my body. It’s a change, but it’s definitely worth making. So start this week knowing that you are loved, and that starts with you. Ok, now I’m going to the gym 🤪.”
In addition to continuously hitting the gym and lifting weights, we desired to share some helpful exercises that will help you get amazing abs like a star athlete. Check them out below.
Dead squats: If you want to copy Williams’ exact exercise on her spinning wheel, you should master the art of dead squats. This exercise requires the lifter to rest the barbell on safety pins before performing the exercise, which ultimately strengthens the core muscles and develops muscle tone (tightening). Although the dead squat does circuitously train the abdominal muscles, the abdominal muscles will be activated and engaged in the course of the movement.
Old style board: While this exercise is not flashy or comfortable, routine planks will get the job done. First, lie down and begin in a plank position. Make sure your elbows are under your shoulders. Hold for 10 to twenty seconds per set.
Barbell side bends: For this exercise you will need a single medium weight dumbbell to help create the essential tension. This exercise will help shape your abdominal muscles. To start, stand along with your feet apart, keep your back straight, activate your core muscles, and lean sideways so far as possible.
