Whoopi Goldberg is the godmother of a 9-month-old Royal Caribbean cruise ship
Since the nine-month Royal Caribbean cruise set sail on December 10, passengers on board and social media followers have been revealing a lot about the trip, including the incontrovertible fact that the cruise ship, named Serenade of the Seas, was officially christened by Whoopi Goldberg.
In a video uploaded to ICT Tok, current passenger and TikToker Marc Sebastian, along with learning that cruise ships fill their pools with seawater and which you can’t pronounce the word “Titanic,” also learned that they’ve godmothers. A cruise ship’s godmother is part of a long-standing maritime tradition wherein a person is chosen to sponsor a ship and help commemorate it before it sets sail, often through a ceremony that will include breaking a bottle of champagne.
Sebastian showed footage of a plaque identifying Goldberg as the ship’s current godmother and said: who was not impressed with the tripshe felt she deserved higher.
“Whoopi, girl, we need to talk because I need to tell you what’s going on on this ship,” he said.
He added: “As an EGOT winner, I just don’t…I don’t feel like it…I just don’t think this is the right ship for you, okay?”
He captioned the video wherein he shares his thoughts on his journey to this point: “Somebody call Whoopi, girl, I got some gossip for her.”
