Harlem’s Fashion Row Announces ICON360 Scholarship from Nordstrom for HBCU Students –

The nonprofit founded by Harlem’s Fashion Row has received a brand new grant in partnership with luxury retailer Nordstrom.

As a part of Nordstrom’s growing partnership with Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) through nonprofit ICON360, the retailer announced how the scholarship will proceed ICON360’s mission to supply financial assistance to Black designers and fashion programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and to assist develop marginalized talent through educational programs.

“As the founder and CEO of Harlem’s Fashion Row, I know firsthand the barriers in our industry. “ICON360 is excited to partner with Nordstrom to provide more pathways for the next generation of Black designers and HBCU fashion students,” said Brandice Daniel, founder and CEO of Harlem’s Fashion Row and ICON360.

“Together we can create a more equitable fashion industry that reflects the diversity of our communities and celebrates the unique perspectives and talents of designers of color.”

Founded in 2007, HFR aimed to present designers of color the popularity they deserved in an industry that had historically neglected them. Now, with over 15 years of experience, HFR has grow to be the leading agency constructing connections between brands and designers of color on the earth of fashion.

Through its initiatives, HFR helps diverse fashion designers with brand strategy, collaborations, recent media engagement, experiential marketing, recruiting and pipeline programs with established brands and retailers equivalent to Nordstrom.

Nordstrom has partnered with NFW for years, joining the agency at its annual Fashion Shows and Style Awards, the Designer Tech Summit and the Black History Month Fashion Summit. Part of Nordstrom’s commitment to partner with expert organizations that improve pathways for diverse communities and support an equitable fashion industry.

“Nordstrom has made ambitious commitments to market diversity and equity. To achieve these goals, we must invest in better pathways for talent in fashion, design and retail,” said Colleen Mitchell, senior director of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at Nordstrom.

“ICON360 has built authentic relationships with HBCUs to connect with and support emerging talent. We look forward to building on our work together to create more pathways for future fashion and retail leaders.”
