For those that have ever wondered what their favorite YouTuber or athlete did to not only secure the bag, but additionally grow it, “Riser Diaries” seeks to find the answer. In a brand new podcast, TurboTax invited former “Bachelor” star Matt James to discover how these exceptionally successful entrepreneurs, athletes and media personalities skyrocketed financially.

Released on February 28, “Riser Diaries” began with its first guest, rising TikTok star Corporate Natalie, on how she turned her area of interest comedy right into a lucrative opportunity. By introducing voices not typically known from financial advice, the program pulls back the curtain on how those in the highlight capitalize on their success.

James spoke exclusively to BLACK ENTERPRISES about “The Riser Diaries,” detailing his own journey to financial wellness and what to expect from his eclectic guests.

“As someone who has struggled with finances and struggled with taxes, that’s not my forte,” the 32-year-old shared why his inclusion in the podcast is personal. “When I started filing my taxes on my own and as someone using TurboTax, it made sense for me to share my story and experiences with people who were in a similar situation. We’ve brought together a whole cast of characters who have gone through difficult financial struggles to encourage people and give them a sense of hope.”

On what the average listener can gain by listening to those already at the top, James emphasizes that their stories are intended to humanize and connect the community,

“Podcasts like this help humanize the people you follow on social media. Everyone sees your highlights on it, but we all started from the same place,” he says. “Now more than ever, people are looking for authentic storytelling and real experiences, not a facade. Most of the ‘Risers’ faced financial turmoil, but it’s still a celebration because they came out more educated.”

“Riser Diaries” is meant to be a source of encouragement and education for listeners. With the show’s launch, additional speakers include content creator LeLe Pons, college basketball superstar Angel Reese and other trailblazers who don’t need to break the bank while reaching latest heights of their careers.

“The overall goal is to really educate people and let them know that it’s never too late to check their financial situation,” James states. “All the financial stuff flows through things like taxes, and when you get a handle on that, other parts of your life can thrive… You can spend more time on what you’re an expert in, and I think that’s a win-win.”
