Oprah Winfrey is getting ‘personal’ about using weight loss injections in a new primetime special.

He is a billionaire, media tycoon meeting with health workers and patients for the ABC program “An Oprah Special: Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution”, transl. In Winfrey’s first primetime show in three years, the OWN founder will examine the “radical impact” of prescription weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy.

“This is a very personal topic for me and for the hundreds of millions of people around the world affected by this disease who have struggled with overweight and obesity for years,” Winfrey said in a statement.

“In this special, medical experts, leaders in the field and people who struggle every day will talk about health equity and obesity with the goal of ultimately freeing ourselves from shame, judgment and stigma around weight.”

The announcement of the special follows Winfrey’s decision to step down from the board of WeightWatchers after admitting to using weight-loss drugs.

“I realized that all these years I had been blaming myself for being overweight and that I had predispositions that no amount of willpower could overcome” – Winfrey he said in December.

“The fact that there is a medically approved formula to manage my weight and stay healthy throughout my life is like a relief, a redemption, like a gift, not something to hide behind and be made fun of again. I’m tired of shaming other people, especially myself… Now I use it because I feel like I need it, as a tool to avoid the yo-yo effect.”

Just a few months earlier, Winfrey nose to nose backlash after calling Ozempic an “easy way” to lose weight. Although she has stepped down from the WeightWatchers board, she still owns 3,700 shares of the corporate and will proceed to work with the corporate as a weight loss advocate.
