“I had Reginae at an extremely young age. In a way, we grew up together. But I will say one thing: I have always kept it separate. I was never her friend when I was growing up. I was always her mother,” Johnson-Rushing said. “As Reginae grew and started to mature and go through things in her life, we started to get closer and closer.”

“Let her say it, I’m her best friend,” Johson-Rushing adds with amusing. “She said, ‘My mom is my best friend!’ Love it. I need my daughter to come back to me about every part and talk to me about every part. Because you have got a village in me, in my friends and in my family. You don’t all the time must run to social media or other people to verify your opinion or express yourself. I’m all the time here for you. I’m glad that our relationship is flourishing and becoming closer than ever.”

While Carter is understood for being her dad’s biggest fan, she says she rides the identical way for her best friend, her mom. And it looks like many individuals feel the identical way about her friend.

“More and more people are coming up to me and saying they love my mom,” Carter said. “It’s the way in which he moves and the way in which he carries himself. My mother is so independent, but additionally gentle. She just oozes radiance. Even when she makes me mad, I can not stay mad at her for long. She teaches me loads and I do not know what I might do without her. This is my rock. She’s just my best friend and I do not care, I’m hers too [laughs]”
