Lupita Nyong’o Says There’s ‘Deception’ Behind Her Split From Selema Masekela: ‘I Found myself in a Period of Heartbreak’
Lupita Nyong’o is healing from a broken heart.
The Oscar winner was delighted along with her Instagram share news that exposed she was now not in a relationship because she “can no longer trust” the person she was with.
“At this moment, I must share my personal truth and publicly distance myself from a person I can no longer trust,” she wrote after learning in regards to the conflict going down in the Middle East. “I’m going through a period of heartbreak over a love that was suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. I’m tempted to run into the shadows and conceal, only to return to the sunshine when I’m strong enough to say, “Never mind, it makes my life better.” But I’m reminded that the quantity of pain I feel is the same as my capability to like. So I decide to face the pain, cultivating the courage to fulfill my life exactly because it is, and trusting that this too will pass.
She then added that she was detailing her experience this manner in hopes of helping another person “grasp heartbreak” and take a look at to get out of it, thereby missing out on the wisdom that might be gleaned from love and loss.
“Let’s face our pain so as not to spread it,” she concluded.
Just before Christmas 2022, Nyong’o went public along with her relationship with TV presenter Selema Masekela, saying: “#thisismylove.” She paid tribute to him on his birthday last summer, writing: “Every day is full of #goodenergy and reasons to bop with @selema as my favorite playmate. Happy birthday, my love. She also recorded a very cute video of her with great concentration helping her comb her hair after the event.
Nyong’o has at all times kept her love life secret, so the undeniable fact that she said she was with Masekela was no small thing. That’s probably why he’s coping with a lot pain now after any “cheating.”
For the record, Nyong’o’s message also comes after she did so photographed during a meeting with actor Joshua Jackson and friends at Janelle Monáe’s concert in Los Angeles. Jackson is currently dealing along with his own heartbreak after his estranged wife, actress Jodie Turner-Smith, filed for divorce earlier this month. Perhaps Nyong’o desired to clear up any confusion or comments people can have had about her relationship status after seeing them on the show. Either way, I’m sure all of us agree with the actress. Better to have loved, lost and learned something than never having loved in any respect, right?
