Charles Barkley Threatens to Hit Black People Wearing Trump Merchandise
Famed basketball player Charles Barkley couldn’t help himself expressing disdain for former President Donald Trump’s recent comments According to . Trump, on the Federation of Black Conservatives’ annual honors gala in South Carolina, suggested that the black population had embraced him after his mugshot was released after he was arrested for his role in trying to overturn the outcomes of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
In response, Charles Barkley made a powerful statement, saying, “First of all, let me just say this: If I see a black man walking around with a picture of Trump, (I will) punch him in the face.”
Barkley’s comments were made during a candid conversation with King, who identified the legal consequences of such actions. Unfazed, Barkley replied humorously, “I’ll bail myself out and go celebrate. If I were at this conference, I would get up and leave. It was an insult to all Black people.”
Expressing his deep offense at Trump’s comparison, Barkley highlighted the stark disparity in experiences between Trump, the billionaire and former US president, in addition to the historical discrimination faced by Black communities. “Comparing the history of black people where we have been discriminated against with his plight – first of all, he is a billionaire and they are coming after him for something he did wrong,” Barkley emphasized.
While acknowledging some truths within the accusations against Trump, Barkley noted: “Well, some things are true. They actually stormed the Capitol; they claimed that the elections were rigged. These aren’t lies, Gayle.
Barkley concluded by sharing his deep hurt on the comparison and emphasizing the importance of respecting the struggles of the Black community. “He had a wonderful life. He was president of the United States. Insulting Black people who have been discriminated against all these years, putting them in the same category… I just felt offended.”
