Fans of actress Angelina Jolie are increasingly expressing their dissatisfaction with her latest magazine cover. Many people commented that the movie star appeared “sad” and “unflattering”, with some suggesting that her image reflected a sense of “private pain”.

The actress currently appears on the duvet of the December issue of Vogue Mexico, promoting her upcoming film “Maria”, during which she plays the enduring opera singer Maria Callas. The photoshoot, shot by photographer Dan Martensen, features Jolie in a stunning black Christian Dior dress.

In an accompanying interview, Jolie talked about connecting with Callas’ character to confront the “deeper parts” of herself and the “private pain” she carries. Her experiences in film involve personal exploration, especially in the case of singing, which required her to face weaknesses she had long hidden.

“I needed to take a deep breath and let all of it out, and in between that I also had to seek out my true voice… which I didn’t really have either, since it was where I carried my private pain, my softness, and a lot of things that I felt I didn’t I had that I didn’t feel protected letting out, but it surely also meant having something that I didn’t wish to face,” she said. She further explained, “There’s something going on in these beautiful pieces of music that you can’t sing if you can’t access a certain part of yourself.”

Although the interview with Jolie was deeply personal and reflective, fans at theFashionSpot forum a wave of comments quickly flooded in, emphasizing her “sad” appearance. Many disregarded the substance of her discussion and as an alternative focused on her appearance.

“She looks really sad…. As if she received the worst possible news just before entering the set,” we read in a single of the comments.

Daily Mail readers chimed in. “He is a sad, misguided and vile person. Her only happiness is making others unhappy. What stories will these children have if they ever manage to overcome her brainwashing,” one person commented.

Others didn’t waste time criticizing Jolie’s parenting.

“In an interview she said she wanted her children to have a private life, but then she dragged them to her movie premieres and her PR representatives contacted the paps about their daily activities. Let it make sense,” one person wrote.

“What about her sad and unflattering parenting style? As a child whose mother estranged us from her father for decades because he suffered from (undiagnosed but easily recognizable mental illnesses),” wrote one other.

A second person chimed in: “What she did to these children about their father is a crime. I just hope that in the not too distant future they will return to it in some way.”

A 3rd person gave a very extensive assessment of Jolie’s personal life. “I actually have worked in family law for over 40 years and if she is gloomy it’s because she realizes that involving children in domestic problems with their dad doesn’t make her a good mother. I actually have little doubt that she berated Brad of their presence and made their children feel like they’d to decide on a side. She thought she would feel higher having all of them on her side, etc. Now she probably realizes that nobody wins this fashion, especially the kids. For several years she robbed them of their relationship with their dad, grandparents, etc. Why? Because he got indignant on a plane once? It’s so obvious to me and if I were her, I’d be unhappy too. So sad. There are not any winners here. You cannot give them their childhood back now. I lost all respect for her.
