John Amos’ family outraged by KC actor’s son, claims he hid actor’s death and secretly cremated him amid explosive family feud
As previously reported, John Amos’ children proceed to spark speculation concerning the death of their 84-year-old father, who died on August 21 in California.
The news was broken by his son, Kelly Christopher “KC” Amos, 53, who informed county officials of the Emmy-nominated TV dad’s death.
The death of the actor best known for his role as James Evans Sr. on the Nineteen Seventies sitcom “Good Times” has sparked strife amongst his surviving family members, including Amos’ daughter, Shannon. However, the family doesn’t rule out against the law.
TMZ reports that based on his death certificate, Amos died at Inglewood Hospital of congestive heart failure. No autopsy was performed on Amos’s body, and nine days later, on August 30, he was cremated.
KC, who’s allegedly in possession of his father’s ashes, waited almost six weeks to publicly announce his father’s death, issuing an announcement on October 1.
In a shocking confession, the actor’s daughter, 57-year-old Shannon Amos, said she learned concerning the New Jersey resident’s death from press reports.
“We are devastated and have many questions about what happened 45 days ago and we learned about it from the media, as many of you did,” Shannon Amos wrote in her article Instagram caption October 1st.
Shannon later took to her Instagram Story to make some teasing allegations about her father’s final hours, noting, “The truth will come out.”
In one other article she wrote: “Someone was within the ER the night my father died and pretended to be his daughter. I’m his only daughter. We consider it was Belinda Foster, a girl also posing as his publicist.
Reports of bad blood between KC and Shannon have been circulating for years. In June 2023, Shannon stated that John Amos was a “victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation” by her brother.
John denied the allegations, and a Los Angeles Police Department investigation found no evidence of harassment. The ‘Coming to America’ forged member opened up concerning the conflict between her lineage during a December 2023 interview People.
“It’s quite scathing at the moment, but it doesn’t matter what you may read or hear in the newspaper or in this medium or on this platform,” John said. “Suffice it to say that we are still a family and we love each other, and that is the most important thing.”
November 2023 article by Hollywood reporter reported on KC Amos’s cross-country travels with John Amos. Their trips were filmed for TikTok and for a feature-length documentary about John titled “America’s Dad.”
John was quoted as saying he believed his estranged daughter Shannon took advantage of him “financially” and “emotionally.” These comments reportedly occurred during a phone call between the actor and his lawyers in June 2023.
In response to the abuse allegations, Shannon told the web site: “He was brainwashed by my brother.” John’s goddaughter, Amy Goudy, claimed the “Roots” star told her he didn’t remember him making such comments about her daughter.
Amy Goudy also recently commented on the news about John Amos’ departure from the media and KC’s alleged cheating. In an October 1 Instagram post, she declared, “KC will rot for this.”
Additionally, Goudy shared a story on Instagram with a caption that read: “(John Amos) died on August 21st and KC didn’t tell anyone… not John’s daughter or granddaughter… not his manager… anyone. The level of evil is indescribable.”
She reinforced Shannon’s claim that another person was present during Amos’ final hours.
“We dropped the elder abuse claims when KC kidnapped John from the hospital. But now we would like the world to understand how diabolical he is. He wasn’t even there for John when he died. “BELINDA FOSTER, who is the ‘representative,’ lied and said she was his daughter… and they hid the fact that he died for forty-five days.”
Goudy included an alleged screenshot of an exchange between Shannon and a girl who stated, “My daughter was working within the ER the night he died. It really hurt her. I just wonder why my daughter waited so long to announce this information. She was the (only) family member who was with him that night.
Shannon replied, “Because it wasn’t me. I’m his only daughter, and that woman lied. We only found out about it today along with the rest of the world.”
John’s granddaughter also released a public statement concerning the situation. Quiera Williams wrote on her Instagram story: “I appreciate all the concern (and) messages. I don’t feel well, so I’m going to unplug. I will come back to you when I can. My grandfather died on August 21!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Williams further expressed how upset she was when she came upon her grandfather had shared the video on social media. She said, “Let me get just a little insight into what’s really happening. My uncle shouldn’t be innocent. At all. You knew that. You didn’t tell us. I came upon about it on social media together with the remainder of the world.
In the since-deleted post, Williams continued: “There is not any revenge because people who find themselves inherently ugly on the within destroy their lives anyway.
Shannon and KC Amos are the one children from John Amos’ first marriage to Noel “Noni” Mickelson. They married in 1965 and divorced in 1975.
The widow’s welfare also caused a rift between her two children. After Noni was left blind on account of an aneurysm and stroke in 1996, Shannon and KC had a falling out over proposed solutions for his or her ailing mother and the estate funds from a medical malpractice settlement.
KC reportedly revealed online that his mother died in June 2017, but Shannon told The Hollywood Reporter that Noni died in 2016. This is all too familiar to the Amos family, who say John suffered from dementia.
“Our father suffered from dementia, and KC often verbally prompted John to create a narrative that was not true on social media. “We were deeply concerned that our father may have been neglected and isolated in the final days of his life when we received photos from concerned neighbors and a doctor,” Goudy wrote in an announcement on Facebook on behalf of the family.
“One photo even led to an elder abuse investigation, but to no avail. This situation mirrors the death of Shannon and KC’s mother. The Central Committee also prevented family members from being present together and making decisions. “Shannon fought to be by her mother’s side and give her freedom in her final days,” she continued.
Goudy further claimed that the “Gamer’s Club” star had been “isolated” from family and close friends for the past yr and that John “was cremated without the family’s knowledge.”
She believes her godfather was exploited by KC, Eugene Brummer and Belinda Foster, who claims to have been John’s spokeswoman.
“We suspect that these actions may have been taken in order to amend potential wills and obtain life insurance or other benefits,” Goudy added. “This is even more disturbing given KC’s struggles with addiction and mental health issues, as well as his previous arrests.”
In July 2023, KC was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill his sister and sending her photos of a gun weeks after she had him removed under their dad’s medical power of attorney.
Amos’s family is actively working to seek out out what happened in the ultimate hours of his life.
