On the Death of Rich Homie Quan and the Lost Generation of Atlanta Rap — Andscape
How tributes began arriving on Thursday sudden death rapper Rich Homie Quan (born Dequantes Lamar), one particularly stood out. Another Atlanta MC Quavo, one third of the city’s legendary rap trio, Migos, posted a photograph on his Instagram Stories. “May God be with us, we never saw this as part of our journey” he wrote in the photo, which features himself, his Migos bandmates Offset and Takeoff (killed November 2022), Rich Homie Quan and the currently imprisoned and awaiting trial Young Thug.
The frozen moment was a stupendous reminder of five artists who reshaped the sound of hip-hop in the post-blog era of the early and mid-2010s, in addition to a painful reminder of how much the city and culture of Atlanta has sacrificed musically and culturally.
Rich Homie Quan, who would have turned 34 in October, was a timeless artist. His unique mix of melody and lyrical dexterity made him a signature voice for Atlanta and hip-hop over the past decade. His hits became party anthems and rallying cries like “Flex (Oh, Oh, Oh)“Go through“YG”My find“And”Type of road,” Which Michigan State University football team the band used the song as its theme song to propel them to a 2014 Rose Bowl victory over Stanford with Rich Homie Quan in the locker room afterward. Retired coach Mike Dantonio expressed his condolences on X, formerly generally known as Twitter. Like many rappers of the era, particularly from the South, his catalog included quite a few cult classic mixtapes (with DJ Drama) and EPs. His one studio album, , was released in 2018.
His most memorable and genre-bending project is gearing as much as rejoice its tenth anniversary on September 29. In 2014, Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug released . At that point Rich Homie Quan Described as “their best collaboration since OutKast.” Turns out he was right. Across the sprawling, 20-track odyssey, the two combined sounds, cadences, and unorthodox rhyme schemes to create cult classics like “Lifestyle“Tell them“And”Freestyle.” was called a “ridiculously funny mixtape” and heralded the arrival of a “latest rap supergroup.” HipHopDX praised the project, saying it felt almost “large enough to persuade you that these guys are Billboard-certified stars and not only tweety weirdo rap mainstays.”
Therein lies the heart of the pain attributable to Quavo’s Instagram Stories photo, which seems distant since it is. Rich Homie Quan’s death is one other blow to the city’s rap scene, which isn’t any stranger to grief. Young Thug has been in prison for 2 years, with an end to his RICO trial seemingly out of sight. Bankroll Fresh, whose “Take over your trap“it happened sports anthemwas killed in 2016 at the age of 28. Police closed the case in 2018 without an arrest. The “Bring It Back” rapper Troubles was killed in 2019 at the age of 34, and Lil Baby, Lil Marlo’s partner, died in 2020 at the age of 30 Shooting from the rideYSL/Young Thug collaborator Lil Keed died in 2022 at just 24 years old as a result of liver and kidney failure.
Takeoff’s death, like the 2022 death of TLC rapper Left Eye, has taken away the future of one other legendary Atlanta trio. Quavo and Offset are the survivors of that era. Their contemporary, Rich Homie Quan, has continued to reminisce on social media, expressing how wonderful artist, but really manwas alleged to be nearby. How generous what kind of person he was. And how modern he was for his short time in the highlight. It’s common rhetoric in death, but its weight never becomes less real or grim.
In the wake of Rich Homie Quan’s death, rap is coming to terms with a harsh truth. The generation of ATLiens has been essentially worn out. These artists, including Rich Homie Quan, spent years creating the sound of the city and the soundtrack of post-blog rap culture. They got here. They saw. They conquered. And almost as quickly because it happened, it was over. Not just of their careers, but of their lives. Few made it to 30. Even fewer made it to 35.
The longer we live, the more we realize how present death is in every moment. Rich Homie Quan, like many others of his generation, and his success reflected the memories they cherished through their music. The drunken nights at the club or barbecues. The house parties that seemed limitless and the road trips that also dominate group chat conversations. The memories are everlasting, but the success was never meant to be. With the death of Rich Homie Quan comes the age-old query that has been asked of artists who died far too soon, long before he was born. What did he actually sacrifice for that success? And how much of his success was already perceived as not his?
In a 2023 interview on Math Hoffa podcast, Rich Homie Quan opened up about his struggles with addiction, which he called the “dark cloud” at the time, and the reason his music profession faded.
“That was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. I got to that point quickly…! I blame myself” he said.
Asked if he was high, Rich Homie Quan made no bones about citing his heavy use of the mind-altering drug molly. “Oh, fuck yeah! I was molly every single day. High! Chilled! I felt like I couldn’t do a song or a show without being on molly.”
As for who introduced him to Molly, he replied, “A family member.”
Rich Homie Quan’s girlfriend, Amber Williams, reportedly found him passed out on a couch. Early reports indicate a drug overdose. His peak as an artist was temporary, but at all times undeniable and at all times timeless. That’s not the most heartbreaking part. At 33, Rich Homie Quan is now hip-hop’s newest forefather. His memories permanently inhabit the past tense. And if that overdose led to his final moments, he’s one of the last names to succumb to The drug epidemic in America. Rich Homie Quan’s music will discover a place to live when those that grew up along with his music are older. The music is supposed to outlive the artist. Nevertheless, the loss of Rich Homie Quan is critical.
Unfortunately, this territory is all too familiar to hip-hop — especially the city of Atlanta.

Stephen Boss’s brother reunites with his children for the first time since the dancer’s death two years ago amid family tensions with widow Allison Holker
The family of Stephen “tWitch” Boss reunited with the late dancer’s children for the first time since his death almost two years ago.
Tensions rose between his mother, Connie Boss Alexander, and his brother, Dré Rose, and his widow, who was accused of causing their family’s separation.
Allison Holker, mother of tWitch’s three children – adopted daughter Weslie, 16; son Maddox, 8; and youngest daughter, Zaia, 5 – recently faced accusations that she was keeping tWitch’s biological children away from their father’s side of the family, apparently compounding an already painful loss. However, plainly the separation is, in a way, over.
For some time in the public eye, things were really bad between the wife and her husband’s family, which got worse after Holker’s recent online debut about her recent relationship. Holker’s last post on tWitch read: common on Father’s Day in 2024, but has since claimed that “Life is sweet” after the death of her children’s father.
In August 2023, Dré shared a public message about the family conflict, revealing it on Instagram post that despite his efforts to maintain their issues private, he felt compelled to talk out. He suggested that Holker’s approach led to an “atmosphere of alienation” between the children and their grandmother.
“Over recent months, we have observed a number of actions and attitudes that, from our perspective, do not create an environment conducive to healing and unity,” he said, partially, referring to Holker’s treatment of their family. According to reports, the family’s problems stem from a dispute over an NDA that Holker allegedly asked the family to sign, which the family didn’t comply with.
Dré claimed that the terms of the contract unintentionally influenced the “Think You Can Dance” star’s children, who he said were “drawn into the intricacies of adult disputes and effectively weaponized in the process.”
The children’s uncle further expressed his disappointment at the lack of consistent “communication” with the children, claiming that his family had not been included of their activities, and added: “It is depressing that their interaction with their grandmother and wider family has been noticeably limited.”
Although greater than a 12 months has passed since Dré’s post, the situation has apparently improved. When Zaia turned 5, Holker, Rose and Connie posted on Instagram on November 3.
Holker post was endearing: “Today is my daughter ZAIA’S BIRTHDAY! She is 5 years old and 20. I’m very happy with how far she has come. My angel has a heart of gold and the cry of a lion.
Fans flooded her comments with their best wishes. Some said, “She looks a lot like her daddy,” others said, “Nothing beats family.”
However, one follower directly addressed the tensions inside the family, commenting: “Poor baby, her mother DOES NOT let her see her GRANDMOTHER… Stop being a (snake emoji) @allisonholker, let the Twitch kids see HER FAMILY!!!”
Dré posted his own birthday wishes for the toddler with the note ” family photo himself holding Zaia and Maddox in his arms.
“Baby Girl Z, wow, big five already! Time flies and each moment with you is more precious than the last. Your pure and beautiful spirit lights up any room and I am happy to watch you grow into a wonderful young girl,” my uncle said.
“Always keep in mind that your ancestors, including your father, are watching over you with love and protection. Uncle Dee loves you a lot and might’t wait for you to see all the amazing belongings you will do. Shine shiny, my dear.
Many followers expressed support for his sentiments, asking if the photo was recent, and rooting for him to see his niece and nephew.
“Yes. For the first time since December 2022, I have to spend some time,” Dré replied.
Another person added: “It’s great to see them, that’s what your brother would want.”
Connie post it was equally warm for Zaia: “From AZ to California. Happy fifth BIRTHDAY to our beloved little Zaia! How time flies… it’s such a blessing to see you grow.
She added: “With your charming smile and unwavering determination, I can not wait to see what the world has in store for you! I really like you, baby! I do know Daddy is smiling and surrounding you with his loving presence in your special occasion.
However, her supporters didn’t hold back their opinions.
“Happy birthday, sweet girl. Grandma, please honestly when signing your captions you should mention how their mom keeps them/you away from her, the kids will grow up and see your IG page, they need to know that you and your family have tried EVERYTHING to stay in their lives, but their mother selfishly refused!!!” one person wrote.
Another asked: “Are you allowed to send your grandchildren gifts on their birthdays and Christmas?” Grandma didn’t answer this query.
But one person paid attention to the conversation and wrote: “Stephen is alive because of his children…who can never be taken away.”
Tension in the family began after the tragic death of the executive producer/DJ of “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” but it surely is unclear exactly when. When tWitch died by suicide, he didn’t leave a will specifying how his estate or future assets could be divided.
Holker, who also danced in “So You Think You Can Dance,” filed a California spousal estate petition to determine her right to her late husband’s estate. She asked for control of his estate to support their children, including her teenage daughter, whom Boss adopted. This move reportedly didn’t go down well with Boss’s mother, who had different views on access to his property.
The legal decision was made on April 26, 2023, According to to E! News when the California Supreme Court awarded Holker Boss an interest in the couple’s joint estate, which included several assets including Stephen Boss Productions, Inc., his investment account with Goldman Sachs, royalties from Cast and Crew Production Services and Disney Worldwide Services, Inc.
This provided Holker with the financial resources she needed to support her children, even though it doesn’t appear to have fully resolved the tensions inside the family.
Although Holker could have modified his life in some respects, the conflict with Boss’s family continues. Many people hope that for the sake of the children, adults will reconcile in order that the mourning process is not going to be further complicated by constant estrangement.

Dave Chappelle Reportedly ‘Refused’ to Host a Post-Election Episode of ‘SNL’ Years After Backlash to His Controversial Monologues
Dave Chappelle won’t weave jokes into election news on the primary episode of “Saturday Night Live” after America has determined that Donald Trump will develop into the forty seventh president of the United States.
Since 2016, the veteran comedian has had the glory of delivering the opening monologue on the primary Saturday after Election Day. Trump’s race against Vice President Kamala Harris has been considered one of an important elections of this generation.
Polls showed that the votes of Republican and Democratic candidates nationwide were almost equal before the ultimate tally of votes. When Trump secured his first victory within the Oval Office, Chappelle noted that he “didn’t know Donald Trump was going to win the election” because “I know white people.”
In 2020, when President Joe Biden defeated Trump, Chappelle delivered a 16-minute monologue. He jokingly thanked “God for Covid” because “something must have locked those murderous white people at home.”
But when viewers tune in to the long-running sketch show on Nov. 9, they’ll be greeted by stand-in and fellow comedian Bill Burr.
To the surprise of many, on October 31, “SNL” announced a lineup change. Firstly response read: “Having a post-election SNL host aside from Dave Chappelle is a crime. He won Emmy Awards for his performances in 2016 and 2020.
Another comment To read“Will Dave Chappelle be on SNL this week? Keep the tradition alive! No matter what happens, half of this country will need a laugh.”
Third person on Twitter he wrote“#SNL selected #BillBurr over Dave Chappelle for his or her post-election show. You’re replacing #Chappelle with Burra, aren’t you? Well, that is going to be a HARD show, you are speaking to a nation that won’t even know what to say. Bill higher be on his A game because of this.

Dave Chappelle’s opening monologue for 2020 on the positioning #SNL
— InThrill (@inThrill) November 8, 2020
One person he tweeted“To all of the people upset that Dave Chappelle isn’t hosting the post-election show: the likely reason is that SNL should have seen all of the backlash he received from transgender people/allies the last time he hosted in 2022 and decided that it is best in the event that they don’t do it anymore.
Other he was pleased“Finally not Dave Chappelle!”
The backlash intensified in 2021 when a humorist was accused of attacking the LGBTQ+ community in his Netflix special “The Closer.” Amid a wave of criticism, NBC, which airs “SNL,” decided to hire Chappelle to host the show, leading some fans to say they were “shocked” and “disappointed” by the choice.
However, claims of a tense relationship between the “Half-Baked” star and the network got here to light after it was alleged that he was kept from delivering a rehearsed monologue throughout the live show.
Chappelle’s punchlines from the 2023 special “The Dreamer” fueled attempts to have his appearance canceled again over transgender material.
Two weeks ago on Punchline, Chappelle said that SNL asked him to host a post-election show, but he declined.
— Ilya Abyzov (@IlyaAbyzov) October 31, 2024
One insider at X claimed that the actor revealed that he turned down a suggestion to perform at a recent comedy show.
“Two weeks ago, Chappelle said on Punchline that SNL asked him to host the post-election show, but he declined” – this person alleged. “He said why, but with these programs it’s a circle of trust thing, so I don’t want to blow it up. Let’s leave it like this: they disagreed on what basis the monologue could move.”
After the outcomes of the 2024 presidential elections, one other person sent“I still remember how hard the first episode of SNL after the 2016 election, hosted by Dave Chappelle, was. Tonight is just as amazing, same feeling – different font.”
Neither NBC nor “SNL” producers provided a statement on the choice to part ways with Chappelle. Burr, like his contemporary, was also the topic of controversy due to offensive jokes he made on the show.

Unrecognizable Kelly Osbourne raises eyebrows in new photos as critics say she has become ‘way too skinny’
Kelly Osbourne was just 18 years old when her family reality show “The Osbournes” debuted on MTV in 2002. Fans cheered her triumphs, giggled at her quirky English humor and sympathized together with her struggles with addiction and weight reduction.
Fast forward, twenty-two years later, the famous British “nepo kid” recently celebrated a major milestone: her fortieth birthday.
Now a mother to an almost two-year-old daughter with a petite figure, Kelly gathered with family and friends for a Chanel-themed party on Friday, November 1, on the W Hotel in Hollywood, just days after her actual birthday on October 27.
She wowed her guests wearing a lovely black off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood gown, a sequin bow and a straightforward strand of pearls – the right search for blowing out the candles on the three-tier reception. “N. Cake 40 Kelly London.””, which is a nod to the brand’s fragrances.
Guests enjoyed pizza and personalized hot dogs while partying with stars like Raven-Symoné, Alanis Morissette, Lucy Hale and, after all, Kelly’s mom, Sharon Osbourne.
When photos from the celebration hit the Internet, fans’ attention was drawn to Kelly’s noticeably slimmer figure. Her nearly 50-pound transformation, which she attributes to gastric sleeve surgery in 2020, a change in food regimen and body treatments, has sparked mixed reactions.
She addressed speculation about her weight reduction earlier in the yr.
“I know everyone thinks I took Ozempic. I didn’t take Ozempic. I don’t know where this came from. My mother took Ozempic” – in an interview with Extra, as reported by the New York Post.
In a recent interview together with her family on Piers Morgan Uncensored, she talked concerning the effect the load loss drug had on her mother.
She said: “I saw how it (Ozempic) gained my mother’s confidence and how – I can only speak for myself – that eating is a problem for me.”
“It’s always been like that and it always will be like that,” she continued, adding, “And seeing your mom free from that for a short period of time, to the point where you don’t have to think about it because you don’t think about it and you make smarter choices because when you’re hungry, you eat what you need to survive, that’s what I witnessed, what my mother went through.”
When Y! Entertainment common Comments poured in celebrating her birthday and large weight reduction. Some fans thought Kelly and her new look were too extreme.
One commented: “Oh my God, Kelly and Sharon look way too skinny.”

Another chimed in: “It’s weird to me that these women spend millions to look young and the end result is that they look old.”
And a 3rd comment added: “How many times will they do this? Sharon looks like she’s ready to go 6 feet underground! If this is the lifestyle of the rich and famous, I will stay here!!!”
“Wow, that doesn’t even look like her,” said a fourth person, in disbelief that it was Kelly in the photos.
However, not everyone was critical.
On X, a fan left a supportive comment on the tribute video posted by Sharon: “Happy 40th birthday Kelly. You both look amazing Mrs. O…. I’m glad you made some wonderful and precious memories xx.”
The birthday of British and Irish television and film is October 27

While some consider that Kelly’s weight reduction was as a result of vanity, she claims it was a health decision.
“I had gestational diabetes and needed to lose the weight I had gained during pregnancy,” she explained. “Otherwise, I would be at greater risk of developing diabetes, and I didn’t want that. I eliminated sugar and carbs and lost weight quickly.”
Now, as she enters a new chapter, the main target has shifted from how much weight she lost as to whether she can keep it off.
Two of the methods she used to realize her look were from non-surgical procedures such as EmFace and EmSculpt Neo.
Her doctor, Glynis Ablon, explained what these tools are: “It’s a device that’s actually like doing 20,000 crunches or sit-ups on your legs, so it literally contracts your muscles. It’s like doing yoga for your face.”
Time will tell if Kelly can keep the load off. Some fans doubt her discipline, citing her mother and her new support for Ozempic as an example, and inspiring people to do every thing they’ll to realize the look they feel most comfortable with.
