After construction began last month, the roller coaster and slide are scheduled to open in the course of the water park’s spring/summer 2024 season.

Water slide roller coasters differ from traditional water slides in that they provide increased speeds, sharp turns, thrilling drops, and unique features that propel riders up, not only down. “Our main goal is to create happy places that bring smiling faces,” said Dale Kaetzel, president of Go Outdoors. “And I can’t think of a better place to do it than right here on the Lake Lanier Islands.”
The development of the water park comes despite the haunting stories and death surrounding Lake Lanier. Reports show that over 200 people died on Lake Lanier between 1994 and 2022, with most deaths attributed to drowning.
In 2023, there have been 39 of them reported drowning in Lake Lanier. The history of the lake includes the displacement of cemeteries and unmarked graves that were stuffed with water gossip that the lake is haunted.
