Coronavirus outbreak leads to fewer arrests, bookings at Washoe jail [Video]

Since the coronavirus outbreak came to the region a month ago, Reno-area law enforcement is arresting fewer people. 

That's according to data collected by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, which shows a dramatic decline in bookings at the county jail.

The data showed the average daily bookings dropped by 36 percent last month when compared to March 2019.

Additionally, the average daily bookings in the second half of March, when the statewide shutdown of nonessential businesses occurred, dropped by more than half compared to the first two weeks of the months.
